Paris, France, April 14th, 2016
Pierre Lescure, president of the Festival de Cannes and Thierry Frémaux, deputy general director of the Festival, have announced today the 49 films selected for this year’s Cannes Festival.
The first film announced during the press conference was the 3D film The BFG from Steven Spielberg which will be released to theaters this summer. It is an adaptation of Roald Dahl short story and will be distributed by Disney.
During the festival, the screening of this selected 3D film and at least 10 further market 3D films will be made with 3D systems by Volfoni. The French company is the exclusive technical partner for 3D systems for the next three years of the Cannes Films Festival and is a major innovator in 3D cinema.
Thanks to Volfoni’s 3D glasses the audience will enjoy these films to their highest potential.
“The continuous presence of 3D films in the Cannes programs shows the festival’s commitment to creativity and innovation, two values we share.” says the President of Volfoni, Thierry Henkinet. The choice of this year’s jury president George Miller underlines this further; he created brilliant films that widen the language of cinema such as Mad Max, Mad Max 2, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, The Warrior Road, Fury Road (3D), Happy Feet and The Witches of Eastwick.
